Statue of oneness

The Statue of Oneness in Omkareshwar is a monumental 108-foot statue dedicated to the 8th-century philosopher and saint, Adi Shankaracharya. Towering atop Mandhata Hill near the sacred Narmada River, this multi-metal statue captures Shankaracharya in a rare walking pose, symbolizing his lifelong journey to spread the philosophy of Advaita, or non-duality.

Conceptualized under the guidance of the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation and Acharya Shankar Sanskritik Ekta Nyas, the statue stands on a 54-foot pedestal and is part of the larger Ekatmadham project.

Ekatmadham Project

The Ekatmadham Project in Omkareshwar is a cultural and spiritual initiative dedicated to Adi Shankaracharya’s Advaita philosophy. Centered around the 108-foot Statue of Oneness, the project includes a museum, cultural center, and educational facilities. It aims to preserve and spread Shankaracharya’s teachings on unity and spirituality, making Omkareshwar a global destination for seekers and scholars of Indian heritage.

Adi Shankaracharya and Omkareshwar

Adi Shankaracharya’s connection to Omkareshwar is profound, as it was here that he traveled over 1,600 kilometers from his birthplace in present-day Kerala to seek enlightenment. In Omkareshwar, he found his Guru, Govind Bhagavatpada, and gained the wisdom that shaped his Advaita philosophy. This journey and spiritual awakening marked the beginning of Shankaracharya’s mission to unify and revive Indian spiritual traditions, making Omkareshwar a vital site in his legacy.
