Significance of worship at Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga region
Om (ॐ) is considered one of the most sacred and significant mantras across various ancient Indian texts, including the four Vedas, 18 Puranas, and numerous Shastras. Its impact transcends across time and space, as it is believed to be the sound that symbolizes the beginning and end of the universe.
The resonating sound of Omkar echoes across India, but there is a place of unique significance where the sacred rivers of Narmada and Kaveri converge to form an island of Om Aakar (Om sizes), referred to as Omkareshwar. Lord Omkareshwar and Maa Parvati reside on this island with their divine family and 33 koti deities.
The circumambulation of Omkareshwar is of great importance and every worship performed here holds paramount significance. It is believed that all wishes of a seeker are fulfilled through worship performed on this sacred land.
